As with all our portable disk reviews, I would just like to make it clear from the start that we are, by no means, expecting ADATA DashDrive HV620 1TB to deliver performance competitive with the slew of flash based memory devices on the list. For example, the OCZ Vertex 2 is a Serial ATA 3Gb/s storage device optimized for maximum I/O performance as a boot drive, whereas a good amount of drives on the list are high performance flash drives. However, our AIDA64 results do provide interesting insight to the performance of the ADATA DashDrive HV620 1TB as a USB 3.0 portable hard drive. Delivering up to 108.3MB/s sequential read, 87.0MB/s random read, and 183.2MB/s buffered read, it is actually pretty darn fast for it being an external 5400RPM 2.5" HDD. Its 17.35 ms random access time is what you would expect from a traditional mechanical disk as well. So far, for 1TB of USB 3.0 storage, I am not complaining about these results.
