ASUS ProArt B660-Creator D4 Review (Page 2 of 12)

Page 2 - Bundle and Chipset

Upon opening the box, a simple bundle accompanies the ASUS ProArt B660-Creator D4 from the factory, as shown in our photo above. Besides the motherboard itself, you will receive two black SATA cables, where one is angled and one is straight, short DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cable, three M.2 rubber pads for supporting single-sided SSDs, one addition screw for M.2 SSDs, user guide, ASUS Control Center activation key card, and a support DVD. I question the need for a support DVD in 2022, considering most new builds do not have an optical drive. The specifications table lists the inclusion of a Q-connector, but I did not find one.

Above is a CPU-Z motherboard tab screenshot of the ASUS ProArt B660-Creator D4 in Windows 11 Pro. At press time, we were using ASUS' 1003 BIOS revision. This is the latest BIOS revision at the time of writing this review.

The ASUS ProArt B660-Creator D4 uses Intel's B660 chipset, as its name suggests. The B660 is Intel's midrange chipset, which supports memory overclocking, but not processor overclocking like the Z690 chipset. Other changes compared to the Z690 chipset include a PCIe 4.0 x4 DMI link rather than PCIe 4.0 x8, six PCIe 4.0 lanes rather than twelve, eight PCIe 3.0 lanes rather than sixteen, four SATA 6Gb/s ports rather than eight, two USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 ports rather than four, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports rather than ten, six USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports rather than ten, and twelve USB 2.0 ports rather than fourteen.

The rest of the specifications of the Intel B660 is listed below, as obtained from the manufacturer's website:
