ASUS ROG Falchion NX Review (Page 3 of 3)

Page 3 - Conclusion

Minimalism has become quite popular in recent times and wireless products always provide an excellent avenue to having a minimal desk setup. The ASUS ROG Falchion NX has some notable features that prove its quality. For one, the metal backplate adds some weight and reduces flex. Moreover, the PBT keycaps are an added touch of excellence. An intriguing selling point is the touch panel on the left side of the Falchion NX. A case is also included, which doubles as a spot to place the keyboard in when not in use, although I found it to cause my wrists to be positioned uncomfortably if you put it underneath the keyboard while using it. Thankfully, you do not have to use the case in this way. Using the Brown ROG NX switches was a pleasant experience, as they felt and sounded great. Other notable features include clear RGB LED lighting on first line labels and full N-key rollover. As for the software utility, Armory Crate worked well. It was an overall smooth experience, even if it felt bloated. On the other hand, there were a few areas to nitpick with the ROG Falchion NX. For one, due it its form factor, there are plenty of secondary functions. These are all printed on the keycaps, which make the keyboard look a bit busy. This is not terrible on its own, but combined with the RGB LED lighting that does not light up the second line or side, it become tricky to read. Secondly, while I appreciate the ingenuity of the touch panel, I found it hard to use. For actions like volume control, it is decent, but other configurable functions are more of a challenge, since your touch or swipe is not always properly registered. I even ended up using alternative methods to adjust the volume. Lastly, the standby timeout does not work consistently, causing battery drain. Overall, the ASUS ROG Falchion NX is built well and provides a good typing experience. The retail price of the Falchion NX is $150 USD. It is definitely on the more expensive side for a 65% keyboard, but this is expected for the features packed into it. If you are looking for a well-rounded, feature-packed, and compact keyboard, the ASUS ROG Falchion NX is something worth considering.
