The Light Base 900 is the first full-tower, dual-chamber case from be quiet!. Our unit is the Light Base 900 DX in white, which does not include fans, while the FX version comes with four be quiet! 140mm Light Wings fans. It also comes in black. Although the Light Base 900 has a height more comparable to traditional mid-tower cases, its overall dimensions are still quite imposing for a full-tower case. It measures 532mm in length, 327mm in width, and 465mm in height without stands, or 484mm with stands. Constructed from a combination of steel, glass, and ABS plastic, this case weighs 16.8kg. Like most fish tank cases, the front and left side panels are made of tempered glass. However, the most striking design element is the set of four light strips that wrap around the top, front, and bottom of the case. These light strips are illuminated by a total of 172 addressable RGB LEDs. Adjacent to the light strips is a silver-painted plastic accent with the be quiet! logo on the top and bottom. The front panel also features buttons and user-facing I/O. White LEDs illuminate the two logos and the power button. The overall case design is clean and minimalistic, resembling a simple box but enhanced with architectural and lighting flair.

Looking at the front of the case, it features a removable glass panel, silver plastic strip, and four light strips on the right. In the center of the silver strip, we find the user facing buttons and I/O ports. From top to bottom, we find the RGB LED control button, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, USB 3.2 Type-A port, square-shaped power button, another USB 3.2 Type-A port, 3.5mm microphone and audio combo jack, and a reset button. Continuing to the left side of the case is another pane of removable tempered glass that allows us a clear view of the internals. Between the front and side glass panels is a strip of silicone rubber that prevents breakage during shipping. For an uninterrupted view, the silicone strip can be removed, but a 1mm air gap will remain between the two glass panels.

The top and bottom panels are near mirror images of each other, as this case can be oriented in three positions. On the bottom, four plastic removable case feet with rubber bases are pre-installed. They raise the height of the case by 19mm. The feet twist 90-degrees clockwise to lock or counterclockwise to unlock. They can be placed on the top or right side panel as well. These plastic feet feel strong enough when installed, but their durability is a bit of a concern. After a few twists on and off, they started to feel loose. On both the top and bottom panels, we find a removable metal grate portion that allows for airflow into the chassis, the silver painted strip with a white-illuminated be quiet! logo near the front, and the iconic four RGB LED light strips to the right. Two of the feet fasten into the metal grate portion near the left edges, while the other two secure into the second light stripe from the right edge.

The removable right side panel is made of a metal grille covered with fine holes. This allows for air intake for side fans and the power supply. Four silicone inserts can function as tiny feet, or can be removed to install the plastic feet. This allows the Light Base 900 DX to lay horizontally.

The rear of the case has a power supply cutout on the upper-half left-side. In the middle is a cutout for the motherboard I/O. To the right is the exhaust grille for a 140mm or 120mm fan. Below is a removable cover to install a graphics card in a different orientation. However, the required parts are sold separately. To the left of the cover are eight perforated PCIe slot covers that are secured with screws and allow for some ventilation. Along the rear edges, we have access to the captive thumbscrews to remove the top, bottom, and side panels.
