Cooler Master CK720 Review (Page 3 of 3)

Page 3 - Conclusion

After our tests, I can confidently say the Cooler Master CK720 is much improved over the previously reviewed CK721, despite the lower model number. Physically, there are no exterior differences between the two keyboards, retaining the same compact 65% form factor. As such, we have excellent features like the included volume knob, exchangeable frame, and dual-height kickstands. Other shared highlights include RGB LED backlights, shortcut support for Windows and Mac users, and seamless integration with the MasterPlus+ software. The CK720 also comes with some upgrades like doubleshot PBT keycaps, internal silicone dampening, and switches and stabilizers with lube applied for a smoother feel. Furthermore, the Kailh Box V2 switches inside are now hot-swappable, which provides another avenue for customization. These key switches felt smooth, crisp, and consistent across keys. As such, the CK720 stands above other keyboards in the typing experience, as the internal changes provide a satisfying feel and feedback. The silicone dampening also removes any metallic ping while improving the rigidity of the keyboard. On the other hand, there are some omissions in the CK720, including wireless operation, a palm rest, or a braided cable. In addition, I would like to see a dedicated Windows lock light and more refinement in the utility software. At the time of the review, the Cooler Master CK720 is available for $100. While it may not necessarily look like that great of a value, the typing experience and customization options in multiple areas really make the CK720 an excellent option for a small form factor keyboard.

The Cooler Master CK720 mechanical keyboard is a tinkerer's dream with easy customization options, but the out-of-the-box experience is equally sublime.
