Cooler Master MasterFrame 600 Review

How do you measure success in your life? In the past, I often defined success based on the outcome of the work. This is easy to do in school and at work because there are defined outcomes like grades or money. Even outside these areas, the outcome is both the last and primary thing you will remember, and others will see. These end results are often how future decisions are made. However, it is also flawed because it lessens the impact of the intermediate steps to get to the result. Doing this ignores the small successes and failures along the way. Instead, now I recognize the process is just as important as the result, if not even more so, as it reveals mistakes and victories at a smaller level while providing transferable takeaways for situations later in life. In an analogous way, computer case manufacturers must consider both the result and the process when designing a new case. For obvious reasons, the result needs to look good, because it is the first thing potential buyers look at. However, if they also make the building process and the features attractive, it will ensure customers enjoy using their chassis. Today, we have the Cooler Master MasterFrame 600, which is a recent case from Cooler Master. Touted as a modular and flexible build with total customization, does Cooler Master achieve success in its process and result? Let us read on to find out!

Today's review unit of the Cooler Master MasterFrame 600 traveled with FedEx and their International 2Day service. It was shipped from a logistics company called Flex Logistics in Ontario, California. This large, corrugated cardboard box arrived at our APH Networks location here in Calgary, Alberta. It arrived in decent condition, as there were no holes around the box, but the handle was ripped on the side, which is unfortunate.

As this is a large box, the shipping box also doubles as the retail container. The box is a generic Cooler Master box with just the logo and slogan in the corners. The only area that is MasterFrame 600 specific is the large purple label that covers the top and side. The top has specifications, and the side shows a small image of the case inside. As you can tell from this label, the MasterFrame 600 comes in both black and silver options. We will explore the differences as we proceed through the inspections. We received the black version for our review. Otherwise, I do like the way Cooler Master packs their cases, as it means these boxes can be used for all different cases of a comparable size.

Before we proceed, I have grabbed the specifications from the manufacturer's website for your viewing pleasure:

Out of the box, the Cooler Master MasterFrame 600 is packaged in a translucent plastic bag and sandwiched between two large white pieces of foam. These pieces do not easily break apart and ensure the case is not affected by any potential impact. It also creates quite a bit of space between the product and the exterior box, further increasing its protection. This means the ripped handle on the cardboard box did not affect the case inside. I do appreciate this is not polystyrene, which breaks apart easily. The rest of the accessories are contained within a separate cardboard box with individual bags. There is a small pamphlet inside that provides an installation guide and information on the two-year warranty.
