About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Next on our list is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform very well here. As manufacturer peak read and write performance ratings are usually achieved using ATTO, whether a drive lives up to its marketing claims or not can be validated by this program. As we read on the first page, Crucial claims maximum read and write numbers of 2300MB/s and 940MB/s, respectively. According to our tests, the read speeds peaked at 3113.623MB/s, while the write speeds reached 2966.413MB/s. These are excellent numbers, even if you disregard the fact this is a budget drive. These results were also massive increases over the quoted numbers from the manufacturer, which is a bit strange if I am being honest. While we often see slight increases from the rated speeds, this is the first drive I have seen that provided numbers with this sort of disparity. In terms of ramp-up, the P2 500GB compared similarly to the P300 512GB, but outperformed the other budget WD Blue NVMe solutions. In the write ramp-up, the Crucial P2 500GB slotted below the Patriot P300 512GB and above the WD Blue SN550 1TB. Overall, these are still very impressive results for both the peak and the ramp-up speeds.
