The Epomaker P65 is a solid entry in Epomaker’s line of 65% mechanical keyboards. It has a beautifully machined aluminum construction, minimalist design, and a pleasant colorway that points back to the early age of computers in the nineties. The hefty construction feels solid and premium, while the subtle flex in the gasket mounting system allows for a comfortable typing experience. Each keystroke is buttery smooth with the factory-lubricated Zebra switches that have a marble-like sound profile. If the Zebra switches are not to the user’s liking, the PCB features 5-pin hotswappable sockets that can accommodate new switches. The plate-mount stabilizers are expertly tuned with no rattling. The double-shot PBT keycaps resist fading, and are very legible with black lettering. The P65 features modern connectivity with the option of wired or wireless. The wireless options provide Bluetooth 5.0 connection to three devices, or for gamers who have a need for speed, the 2.4GHz connection can be used with the included dongle at 1000Hz polling rate. The keyboard is compatible with QMK or VIA software for users to tinker and customize the keyboard to their liking. For areas of improvement, the south-facing RGB LED lighting adds a bit of fun to the experience, but at the expense of battery life. The 4000mAh battery is good for four days of moderate use with the LED lights illuminated. The battery life is acceptable and can be extended by turning the backlights off. The P65 sounds a bit harsh, but can be easily opened for modifications to the included foam and sound enhancing materials to obtain the perfect sound. At the time of writing, the P65 can be had for $101, which is excellent value for what this keyboard has to offer. The Epomaker P65 is a beautiful 65% keyboard with a fully machined aluminum chassis and a buttery typing experience.
