FSP MP7 Black Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

In a return to simplicity, the FSP MP7 Black is an air cooler that brings an adequate design and execution. From a physical sense, the all-black heatsink is clean and unassuming. FSP has used proper materials of aluminum and nickel-plated copper to balance between thermal conductivity and weight. The two FSP 120mm fans also match the visual vibe and attach with wire clips for flexible placement. One will appreciate the height clearance combined with sufficient space under the front fan to install memory. It also only hovers over the nearest RAM slot, which means you might not run into any interference. Installation is straightforward and the unit mounts in place with a familiar process. When we look at the MP7 Black's capabilities, you can see it can move heat despite its smaller size. While it may not compete with the larger 140mm offerings, it keeps our test machine running smoothly. The MP7 might not be the quietest cooler, but the noise output was acceptable at regular operation. There are still some faults with the MP7 Black that you should keep in mind. For one, the included thermal paste is a bit too solid and does not easily stick to the processor. Furthermore, you should keep the included screwdriver in a safe place, as you will need it to fit through the holes and install the MP7 Black. Finally, it might be difficult to find the MP7 in USA, as it was not available from most retailers. At release, the FSP MP7 Black and its variants have an MSRP of $50 USD, making it reasonably priced for its ability. As such, if you are looking for a low-footprint air cooler that still pushes heat away, the FSP MP7 Black is a solid purchase.
