Netac NV7000-Q 1TB Review (Page 10 of 10)

Page 10 - Conclusion

Taking a look back at our own set of tested drives, the Netac NV7000-Q clearly displays the advancement of technology over time. Similar to the NV7000-t, the NV7000-Q is primarily attractive for combining an affordable price with solid speeds on paper. This combines a lengthy write endurance and a five-year warranty, which makes it all the more surprising when we have quad-level cell NAND flash at the core rather than the traditional TLC and no onboard DRAM. However, the Maxio Technology MAP1602A and YMTC flash chips seems to result in solid numbers. In terms of the synthetic benchmarks, the NV7000-Q was capable in sequential and random performance. It may not have necessarily beaten its slightly faster brother, the NV7000-t, but the results were nothing to scoff at either. In more simulation-based tests like 3DMark and PCMark, we saw passable performance all around, whether in application use or file transfer results. It was also generally more well-rounded than other QLC-based drives we have seen in the past. Even so, there was one primary blemish found in PassMark's advanced disk tests, showing room for improvements in the controller under intensive read and write loads. Even so, I was still excited to see a budget-built drive putting up a fight compared to other competition. When it comes to purchasing this SSD, the Netac NV7000-Q 1TB is not yet readily available at press time, but our contact with Netac says this should be priced below $80. At this price point, the NV7000-Q stands in tough competition with many 1TB SSDs, including similarly performant options, like the Crucial P3 Plus, and some that are better, such as the Western Digital WD_BLACK SN770 or Lexar Professional NM800 PRO. Focusing on performance metrics alone, I am still happy to see the amelioration over the years, and I hope Netac and others continue to push the bounds of yesterday into the future.

Since April 30, 2007, Number Ratings have been dropped for all CPUs, motherboards, RAM, SSD/HDDs, and graphics cards. This is to ensure the most appropriate ratings are reflected without the inherent limits of using numbers. Everything else will continue using the Number Rating System.
