New to our battery of SSD benchmarks is the PCMark 8 Storage Consistency Test. Nowadays, many drives are well optimized for high benchmark scores when they are empty, but what separates the professional players from the amateurs is how it stands up to a truly punishing workload. PCMark 8's Storage Consistency Test is designed exactly for this purpose. Going through five phases -- precondition, degradation, steady state, recovery, and clean up -- to extend beyond real world application simulations, this benchmark takes just over two days to complete, but the results are revealing of a SSD's true capabilities. Overall, the OCZ Trion 150 480GB's results was not bad for its class, but it did not bring about any high scores. In the first pass, it came up behind the Trion 100 usually by about 5MB/s to 10MB/s in the degradation and steady phases. In the second and third pass, this gap increased to around 20MB/s in the degradation phases, and trading punches in the steady phases, with the Trion 100 a little ahead most of the time. However, in all three passes, the Trion 150 demonstrated significant improvement in the five recovery phases; leading by about 50MB/s on average in all three passes.
