Page 10 - Conclusion
As I have mentioned in my OCZ Vertex 4 256GB review, not every test in our battery of benchmarks reflects the true performance of Indilinx Everest 2 based drives. While SandForce SSDs are extremely proficient at handling compressible data and winning drag races in many tests, OCZ's own controller shines through in dealing with non-compressible information, in conjunction with the ability to pull higher I/O operations per second. In turn, the latter will frequently translate to better real life performance. However, it seems to us while the OCZ Vertex 4 256GB is a victim of benchmark software optimization, the Agility 4 256GB simply does not perform nearly as well as its bigger brother, or even its predecessor, for that matter. The OCZ Agility 3 240GB is pretty close to the OCZ Vertex 3 240GB at a lower cost with better power consumption. From what I can see, the OCZ Agility 4 256GB is quite a bit slower than the OCZ Vertex 4 256GB, both in real life and in benchmarks. As no one refers to "8 Mile Road" as "12.8748 Kilometer Road", or say "Give them 2.54 cm and they will take it 1.609 km" instead of "Give them an inch and they will take it a mile", just because two SSDs have equivalent capacity, does not mean they are the same. This is certainly the case here. For about $20 difference at press time, just buy the OCZ Vertex 4 256GB -- it is definitely worth the extra money.

Since April 30, 2007, Number Ratings have been dropped for all CPUs, motherboards, RAM, SSD/HDDs, and graphics cards. This is to ensure the most appropriate ratings are reflected without the inherent limits of using numbers. Everything else will continue using the Number Rating System.

The OCZ Agility 4 256GB is a hard case -- for an extra $20 at press time, the OCZ Vertex 4 256GB delivers significantly better performance for a relatively small price increase.
