About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so SandForce based SSDs will perform very well here. This means our OCZ Vector 150 is at a bit of a disadvantage here, since the Barefoot 3 does not use on the fly compression. As manufacturer peak read and write performance ratings can usually be verified by ATTO, whether a drive lives up to its marketing claims or not can be tested by this program. OCZ claims the Vector 150 240GB's maximum read and maximum write is pinned at 550MB/s and 530MB/s, respectively. Compared to the Vertex 460, that's a 10MB/s increase in the read rating and 5MB/s increase in write rating. According to our tests, these figures seem to be bang on. It peaked at 557.1MB/s read and 535.6MB/s write in the curves demonstrated in our charts above. Despite its inherent disadvantages, the OCZ Vector 150 240GB is definitely among one of the best performers in this test. Under the curve, the Vector 150 delivers slightly better average performance than the original Vector.
