About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next are our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often-quoted benchmark because it is easy to use and accurate. ATTO uses easily compressible data, so compression-heavy controllers will perform very well here. As manufacturer peak read and write performance ratings are usually achievable using ATTO, whether a drive lives up to its marketing claims or not can be validated by this program. Patriot claims the P400 1TB to have a maximum read speed of 5000 MB/s and a maximum write speed of 4800 MB/s. The Patriot P400 1TB did not quite reach these figures for either, but came somewhat close with a tested maximum read speed of 4700 MB/s and a write speed of 4570 MB/s. Taking a closer look below the curve, the ramp-up write speed was quite fast at moderate file sizes, specifically from 4KB to 256KB. The ramp-up read speed was good between 2KB to 32KB, but was actually the slowest among all the PCIe 4.0-based drives shown when it came to maximum read speed. Both the peak read and write speeds of the P400 1TB fell behind the maximum transfer rates of the other tested drives, revealing budget nature of this drive.
