About HD Tach 3.0.1.0
HD Tach is a low level hardware benchmark for random access read/write storage devices such as hard drives, removable drives (ZIP/JAZZ), flash devices, and RAID arrays. HD Tach uses custom device drivers and other low level Windows interfaces to bypass as many layers of software as possible and get as close to the physical performance of the device possible.

HD Tach is what we would call a "drag-race" approach to evaluating performance. While this may not necessarily be reflective of day-to-day usage, this test still provides insightful results for comparing against other drives. Taking a look at the Patriot Supersonic Rage 2 256GB results, we can see the line trends flat, despite the few blips. Speeds vary around 180MB/s to 260MB/s, but the average read speed comes to 216.5MB/s. This result is once again excellent in comparison to our other USB 3.0 drives. The burst speed comes out to 324.5MB/s, and the average latency is around 0.7ms.
