Patriot Viper Steel RGB DDR4-3200 2x16GB Review (Page 10 of 10)

Page 10 - Overclocking and Conclusion

Coming back to the present to take a look at the RGB-enabled Patriot Viper Steel RGB DDR4-3200 2x16GB, can we answer the question as to whether RAM is cooler back then without RGB LEDs? It really depends what your definition of cool is, but if overclocking is part of the equation, I will have to say this kit will blow you out of the water. I was able to take it from DDR4-3200 to DDR4-4000, Prime95 stable, with a slight relaxation of timings. Granted, the stock latencies are already kind of high, but this represents a rather impressive 25% overclock; a figure that I have not been excited for since the late-2000s with the OCZ ReaperX HPC PC3-10666 Enhanced Bandwidth 2x1GB. Of course, I cannot guarantee this will be the case for all Patriot Viper Steel RGB DDR4-3200 2x16GB kits you buy off-the-shelf, but at the very least, there is good potential you can get lucky with the SpecTek PRN2G8Z32DD8JC-062E integrated circuits. On the RAM itself, the Patriot Viper Steel RGB DDR4-3200 2x16GB comes with unique-looking medium profile heatspreaders that should fit under all modern aftermarket CPU heatsinks and RGB LED lighting that synchronizes with the rest of your system from all popular motherboard manufacturers. You will also get lifetime warranty as with all Patriot RAM. For about $160 at press time, the Patriot Viper Steel RGB DDR4-3200 2x16GB is very reasonably priced for the capacity, features, performance, and warranty you get.

APH:Renewal Award
Since April 30, 2007, Number Ratings have been dropped for all CPUs, motherboards, RAM, SSD/HDDs, and graphics cards. This is to ensure the most appropriate ratings are reflected without the inherent limits of using numbers. Everything else will continue using the Number Rating System.

The Patriot Viper Steel RGB DDR4-3200 2x16GB kit has it all: Big capacity, fast performance, RGB LED lighting, and potentially lots of overclocking headroom.
