After using the SCUF Omega and putting it through the gauntlet of games, I think the Omega is a solid contender for a PS5-style controller. It is clear that SCUF has put a lot of thought into the design of the Omega, as it offers many premium features to provide the user with a competitive advantage. The Omron switches provide an immediate response in gaming. The clicks were immediate and satisfying. On top of the great feeling, we have a battery life rated up to 17 hours. This is great, because PlayStation's premium DualSense Edge controller only lasts about 6 hours. The SCUF App is simple to use to customize the Omega. Rebinding all the extra buttons to your liking is definitely a feature that will draw people in. A personal highlight for me was how customizable the controller was. Not only can you customize your own controller on their site and remap buttons, you can physically alter the controller to your liking. Want different thumbsticks? Swap them in. Paddle buttons accidentally being triggered? Replace it with a blanking plate. Want a faster shot in game? Toggle the analog trigger to instant trigger. Ultimately, you can set up the Omega to fit whatever you want. Some small gripes I have about the controller is the fact that G2 to G4 cannot be remapped to anything other than audio functions. Additionally, these audio functions only work if the headset is plugged into the controller. The Omega also has a slightly bulkier build that some users may not be a fan of, particularly if they are familiar with the DualSense shape already. I personally did not find too much issue, but it should be considered. For an MSRP of $220, this is definitely a good contender against the PS5 DualSense Edge controller, offering more options and mechanical switches.
