Sennheiser CX Sport Review (Page 4 of 4)

Page 4 - Conclusion

To answer our questions in the beginning, the Sennheiser CX Sport is a pretty similar story as the CX 6.00BT, which has its pros and cons. Starting with the build quality, I liked how light they made the CX Sport without sacrificing the build quality. Active elements are immediately seen with the bright green accents, light carrying case, and splash resistant design. In terms of wireless and battery performance, the CX Sport was good with a decent battery life and great quick charging capabilities while also getting more than sufficient range over wireless Bluetooth. Support for aptX and aptX LL wireless codecs is also excellent to see, even if it is limited to specific devices. When we move to the audio performance, we have similar advantages and drawbacks. There was the fun V-shaped frequency distribution with decently rounded bass. However, the recessed midrange followed by an overly sharp treble made the whole piece a bit uncomfortable and could lead to listening fatigue. If Sennheiser started with cleaning up the treble and thickening the midrange, the CX Sport would already be much better. Otherwise, I would have liked to see a USB Type-C port for charging, as well as a more tactile remote. In the end, the Sennheiser CX Sport is a great pair of wireless headphones in a physical sense, especially with its good build and wireless performance, let down by the average sound quality. The Sennheiser CX Sport are available for a price of $130 USD, which is a bit more than the CX 6.00BT. At the end of the day, there are other options with better sound quality, but this is still a viable choice, especially if you need something more active-oriented.
