The SilverStone Lucid 05 is a clean-looking case with a 270° tempered glass view into its interior, which is a popular design in the last couple of years seen in products like the Antec C5 ARGB, be quiet! Light Base 600 LX, Corsair 3500X ARGB, and Thermaltake CTE E600 MX. Our particular unit is the black version, but you can also get one in white. We also have a long history of reviewing previous Lucid series cases, including the Lucid LD03-AF, Lucid LD03, and Lucid LD01.
Clear tempered glass panels on the left and front sides of the Lucid 05 provide a view inside with about 80% coverage. The remaining 20% is a mesh for the lower chamber ventilation. You can even add up to two 80mm fans at the front bottom for air intake into this area. Both side panels are attached to the main frame via metal tabs that run along the edges of each panel. Captive thumbscrews at the back are made for simple and convenient removal. Meanwhile, the front glass panel is attached by ball-and-socket joints at the top, and pivots about a set of tabs at the bottom for removal.
Measuring at 491.5mm height, 220mm width, and 427.6mm depth, the SilverStone Lucid 05's dimensions are quite compact for an ATX computer case. It is a bit taller, but also a bit shallower, than the Fractal Design Epoch Black TG RGB Light Tint I recently reviewed. The weight is not posted, but it tipped my scales at 15.4 lbs, which makes it one of the lighter cases out there. The reason for the Lucid 05's light weight is because the steel panels are thin and it does not have sound insulation materials or other miscellaneous items other than two glass panels.
The front panel connectors are located at the top of the Lucid 05. It is totally not symmetrical, and it actually looks great, because it is vertically stacked. Starting from the bottom, we have a square power button, square reset button, separate red hard drive and blue power LEDs, USB 3.2 Type-A port, 3.5mm headphone audio jack, 3.5mm microphone input jack, another USB 3.2 Type-A port, USB 3.2 Type-C port. and a square ARGB LED toggle button. I am happy that there are dedicated reset and ARGB LED toggle buttons, but a separate 3.5mm headphone audio and microphone input jack is rather rare in 2025. A combination audio jack is likely better for headset compatibility.
The back of SilverStone's Lucid 05 is painted black to match the rest of the chassis, and is pretty much standard for a case with a bottom mounted power supply bay. We can expectantly spot an included 120mm ARGB LED fan placed adjacent to the motherboard I/O backplate. Four captive thumbscrews, two for each panel, can be seen in our above photo.
Shifting our focus a little bit, let us take a look at the top of the SilverStone Lucid 05. Traditionally, case designers install top mounted fans to efficiently draw heat away from the processor. This makes a lot of sense, since heat rises, so we are only adhering to the natural laws of physics. Unfortunately, this is a two-way street, as it is also very easy to get a lot of dust in the system that way when it is turned off. I am not a big fan of such a design, and I really dislike it when manufacturers force me to use that opening. In this case, SilverStone has made a compromise. The top panel is about two-thirds ventilated, but it has a magnetic dust filter. Furthermore, having two side intake fans from the factory -- more on this later -- will produce positive pressure to keep dust out during normal operation. The top dust filter feels a bit flimsy since it is frameless, but it does the job.
The top panel is fixed and cannot be removed. You can install up to three 120mm or two 140mm fans in this location. Of course, it can accommodate a radiator of equivalent size. This is rather small, since you cannot fit a 360mm radiator here, but the Lucid 05 itself is quite compact, so this is not unexpected. Other than that, the right side panel has a mesh opening for two 120mm ARGB LED fans, both included, or a 240mm radiator. The mesh is supposed to double as a dust filter, so no additional dust filtering system is included.
There are seven horizontal expansion card slots, painted black, shown in our photo above. They are not bridgeless, and the slot covers are the break-off type, which are typically reserved for lower-end models. There is an adjacent vertical dual slot next to the expansion card slots if you want to use a vertical GPU riser kit, not included, to show off your graphics hardware.
Four fixed plastic feet with rubber pads can be seen on the SilverStone Lucid 05. The legs provide the chassis with about 2 cm rise over the surface it resides on. No bottom intake fans are supported, but you can install up to three 120mm intake fans on top of the PSU shroud. The magnetic washable bottom fan filter can be seen in our photo above, which can be easily removed for easy cleaning. It is frameless like the top filter though, which can feel a bit flimsy.
Overall, the SilverStone Lucid 05 ATX case is an acceptable case with regards to build quality. This is a midrange model, and the quality, feel, and features fit the bill. Still, all the panels fit together reasonably well with minimal panel gaps, and sharp edges are out of the question. The only quality issue I had was the mesh under the tempered glass panel was a bit bent at the back out of the box, which you can see in the photos on this page. This may be due to how thin the steel is.
