Crystal Disk Mark 7.0 is in the spotlight. Crystal Disk Mark is an important benchmark, because it tests the input/output operations per second capability of the storage device. Since this is a new version, I only retested the Seagate IronWolf Pro ST14000NE0008 14TB for comparison. As you can see in our charts above, the 7,200RPM Red Pro WD141KFGX 14TB performed very well against other drives of the same capacity. In fact, it dominated across the board in the SEQ1M Q8T1 and SEQ1M Q1T1 tests. It was not surprisingly it beat out the non-Pro model in this area, but beating the IronWolf Pro 14TB was no small feat. I cannot explain why the WD Red 14TB was so good in the RND4K Q32T16 and RND4K Q32T16 write tests, but the WD Red Pro 14TB held its own in the corresponding read tests; just trailing the Seagate IronWolf Pro 14TB by a hair. It did beat its core competitor outright in the write tests though. Generally speaking, the Western Digital Red Pro WD141KFGX 14TB was competitive in most posted results.
