Yeyian Links 3000 Review

It is the winter break and I have fallen back into my rhythm of rewatching random shows on Netflix. This brings me to my go-to rewatch title, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The number of times I have rewatched it in the background of other activities has reached the double digits, and I have wasted so much time with it to the point where I have the majority of the scripts of some episodes memorized. With that, Easter eggs in episodes have become more prevalent, such as the painting of Holt in Kevin’s office. With the amounts of times I have watched this show, I have realized I have generally enjoyed the earlier seasons more. The humor was more authentic and less pointed. The early humor felt almost pointless, which made it all the more funny, while the later seasons felt too directed and forced. The final season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a prime example of how directed the humor was. All the jokes felt like they had an agenda or were being censored. The character Rosa used to have the most uncensored humor, often suggesting police brutality, but in later seasons, she is quite emotional about the issues of police. The final season had too much political commentary in my opinion. For a comedy, viewers generally do not want to be preached at, and it felt as though an agenda was being pushed. This was something disappointing to me as I wanted a genuinely fun comedy. Peripherals are sometimes like this, as some products are authentic and original, while others have more advanced features but miss the basics. This week, we have the Yeyian Links 3000 to try out. Will this mouse remember its roots, or will it leave me disappointed? Keep reading to find out!

Our review unit of the Yeyian Links 3000 arrived in a brown corrugated box from San Diego, California, USA via FedEx and their International 2Day service. The box arrived in relatively good condition. The entirety of the box was shrink wrapped with multiple plastic layers to ensure no one else will access the box. The box was also sealed with Todo Cheap packing tape to further keep the box from being tampered with. Alongside the Links 3000, Yeyian has also sent us their Akil Series 3500, which I have previously reviewed, and the Agile NL, which has been previously reviewed by my colleague Aaron Lai.

The Yeyian Links 3000 box design is decently standard, utilizing a primarily black box accented with white text for their logo. The background has a rainbow hexagonal pattern, as you can see in the image above. The first word that comes to mind when I look at this box is “generic”. This does not necessarily mean it is a bad design, but I will not consider it anything special except for the magnetic door to reveal the actual mouse when opened. This design is seen on a few mouse boxes, but not many. My one comment for this door is that I wish the mouse on the front of the box were to be scaled to the size of the actual mouse to match when opened. As usual, the front of the box displays an image of the Links 3000, as I have previously stated, alongside its name on the top and some features on the bottom. The back of the box contains some specifications as well of the name of the product again.

There is a noticeable inconsistency in package design regarding the color scheme between the three products, sprouting a unique appearance for each of them. From a marketing perspective, this is not very ideal, as inconsistency reduces brand recognition. In terms of actual design, they are all adequate, but the lack of uniformity will make at least a few people question whether or not they are made by the same company. As someone who has learned something in their marketing class, I highly advise for uniformity between products. A simple base and accent color will serve to be quite beneficial in developing better cohesion.

Out of the box, you will receive the Yeyian Links 3000 itself alongside a quick start guide and warranty booklet. The packaging is incredibly simple, having the bare minimum. I appreciate this because a mouse does not require too much packaging. In my experience, I found the start guide to be not very helpful as the setup process was not as streamlined as anticipated, but I will comment more on this later into the review. The mouse is cased in plastic and will not be moving, being adequate for the protection of the mouse. The packaging was nice and simple while having an adequate amount of cushioning to ensure the safety of the mouse.
