Netflix Adds Family-Friendly Email Recap, Kids Top 10 Row

From PC Mag: Netflix is launching two child-friendly features in a bid to help households better connect through entertainment.

"Shows and movies are an important way for kids to connect with the world—helping to teach them about new places, create bonds with family or friends, and understand other perspectives," Jennifer Nieva, director of product innovation at Netflix, wrote in a blog post.

It can be difficult to know what your child is thinking. But Netflix thinks new bi-weekly email recaps will give parents and guardians some insight into minors' preferences through recommendations and printable activity pages based on their favorite content and characters—from Ridley Jones to The Mitchells vs. The Machines. The recaps will also offer more information about the themes and topics they enjoy most (science, friendship, etc.), and tips on how to best utilize Netflix Kids.

Taking a page from its own book, Netflix is also releasing Kids Top 10 rows featuring the most popular children's programming with a maturity rating of PG and below in your country. "We've seen how Top 10 rows help our members find something to watch," Nieva said, alluding to the lists it launched last year for adult members.
