As with all our USB flash drive reviews, I would just like to make it clear from the start that we are, by no means, expecting ADATA DashDrive Elite UE700 64GB to deliver performance competitive with the OCZ Vertex 2 60GB SSD, even though it is a rather old SSD. The Vertex 2 is a Serial ATA 3Gb/s storage device optimized for maximum I/O performance as a boot drive, whereas the DashDrive Elite UE700, while advertised as a fast USB 3.0 drive, is clearly not designed for SSD rocking performance. However, our AIDA64 results do provide interesting insight to the performance of the ADATA DashDrive Elite UE700. Delivering up to 190.8MB/s sequential read, 204.6MB/s random read, and 189.3MB/s buffered read, it is certainly not as fast as the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX and Patriot Supersonic Magnum drives, but leads the Patriot Supersonic Rage XT and DataTraveler Ultimate G3 for the most part. Its 0.9 ms random access time is also relatively high by USB 3.0 drive standards; this is one area where the company could pay a little more attention to. In fact, its latency is the highest among all non-encrypted USB drives we have tested so far here at APH Networks. It should not affect performance all that much, if at all, in real life, however.
