Page 2 - Bundle and Chipset
We are greeted with a bundle of accessories upon opening the retail box. Aside from the motherboard, you will receive a USB 2.0 splitter cable, front panel audio extension cable, two black SATA cables, four M.2 screws, cable ties, ROG keyring, set of ROG stickers, Wi-Fi antenna, and a user guide. Additional documents include a ROG advertisement card and a motherboard layout sheet. A support DVD is also included, although I wonder about the need for this in the year 2022. The specifications also list an M.2 bracket as included, but I did not find one with my review package.
Above is a CPU-Z motherboard tab screenshot of the ASUS ROG Strix B660-I Gaming WiFi in Windows 11 Pro. At press time, we were using ASUS' 1620 BIOS revision, which is the latest BIOS revision at the time of writing this review.
The ASUS ROG Strix B660-I Gaming WiFi uses Intel's B660 chipset, as suggested by its name. The B660 chipset can support memory overclocking but not CPU overclocking like the Z690 chipset. Other differences between the B660 and Z690 chipsets are a PCIe 4.0 x4 DMI link rather than PCIe 4.0 x8, six PCIe 4.0 lanes rather than twelve, eight PCIe 3.0 lanes rather than sixteen, four SATA 6Gb/s ports rather than eight, two USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 ports rather than four, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports rather than ten, six USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports rather than ten, and twelve USB 2.0 ports rather than fourteen. It should be noted that the actual number of available ports is dependent on the manufacturer and model of the motherboard.
The rest of the specifications of the Intel B660 chipset is listed below, as obtained from the manufacturer's website:
