Asus EN8800GTS (NVIDIA 8800GTS) TOP 512MB Review (Page 8 of 10)

Page 8 - Benchmark: 3DMark06

It's cool to benchmark with games, but what's a review without 3DMark06? To put it to the tests, our results were quite surprising -- at least to me. While the Asus 8800GT TOP had a strong lead over the G80 8800GTS, the G92 8800GTS did not post a prominent lead in 3DMark06 default settings after half a dozen of test reruns and verifying if all settings are correct. Scores will increase as CPU speed increases, but the gap before and after CPU clock change (Our E6300 at 2.80GHz is not really bottlenecking it, but we can overclock the chip to 3.36GHz stably) is not much different. Generally speaking, the 8800GTS is faster than the 8800GT, but not by much. Keep in mind, however -- both the tested 8800GT and 8800GTS are factory overclocked units from Asus. (They are the fastest variants of each respective card, however.)
