Like Futuremark's PCMark benchmarking suite, 3DMark 11 is yet another favorite among enthusiasts and reviewers alike. The latest iteration of 3DMark is available in three presets; separated into their respective categories of Entry, Performance, and Extreme. Entry is run at a resolution of 1024x600, Performance at 1280x720, and Extreme at 1920x1080. Futuremark's latest program is more than capable of driving current generation graphics cards to its knees. And it did. It takes advantage of DirectX 11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders, and multi-threading. In all presets, the G.Skill Ares F3-1600C8Q-16GAB 4x4GB was very close to the Ripjaws DDR3-1600 2x4GB, except the latter has tighter latencies -- contributing to negligibly better numbers.
