Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5 Review (Page 4 of 12)

Page 4 - Benchmark: AIDA64 CPU

About AIDA64 Engineer

AIDA64 Engineer has a hardware detection engine unrivaled in its class. It provides detailed information about installed software and offers diagnostic functions and support for overclocking. As it is monitoring sensors in real time, it can gather accurate voltage, temperature and fan speed readings, while its diagnostic functions help detect and prevent hardware issues. It also offers a couple of benchmarks for measuring the performance of individual hardware components or the whole system. It is compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit Windows editions, including Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.

Alright, let us begin the most boring part of our motherboard review today: The benchmarks. How can so many pages be so boring? Well, if you are reading this, you are one of the few who did not skip over this section and went straight for the conclusion, haha. This is because benchmarking motherboards are usually, well, not very useful. Unless manufacturers implement base clock "cheats", performance between brands is virtually identical. We still do them anyway, but with so many features on the processor itself, evaluating a motherboard in this manner has become somewhat irrelevant in 2015. Therefore, like we have done in the GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK review last year, I just compared the motherboard against itself with the Intel Core i5-6600K overclocked. This provides a more interesting comparison to show off the unique capabilities of the motherboard. I managed to take the CPU to 4.7GHz at reasonable voltages (More on this later), and the results are as above. There was an average gain of around 30% with the overclocked i5-6600K, with the exception of PhotoWorxx, which was quite significant. Turbo Boost already takes it to 3.6 to 3.9GHz without changing a thing, but that extra 800 to 1100MHz definitely made a difference.
