Gigabyte G1.Sniper Review (Page 11 of 12)

Page 11 - Onboard Sound (RMAA 6.2.3) Analyzation

Gigabyte advertises their onboard dedicated Creative X-Fi sound quite heavily. The CA20K2 APU/DSP is Creative's flagship X-Fi processor, and the G1.Sniper actually comes with 64MB of X-RAM in conjunction with Nichicon MUSE ES audio grade capacitors, as discussed on Page 3. Gigabyte is obviously taking this very seriously. So how well does it perform? For our RMAA tests, I have previously set the output to 24-bit/48 kHz, but it seems like it is underperforming in the THD + Noise section -- most possibly due bottlenecks at the input stage. To get around this, I have tuned it down a bit and tested it on 16-bit/44 kHz instead, which gave much better results, although there may still also be slight limitation in terms of recording.
