3DMark06 proves to be quite an interesting set. Let's begin with the Overall results -- the Core 2 Extreme QX9650 was 25.2% faster than the E7200, despite the fact that its clock speed is only 18.6% higher than the E7200 (But the QX9650 has more more L2 cache). The mark breakdown indicates that the QX9650's biggest advantage was in the CPU subscore, which was more than twice as high as the E7200.
