About HD Tune Pro 5.70

HD Tune Pro is a hard disk / SSD utility with many functions. It can be used to measure the drive's performance, scan for errors, check the health status (S.M.A.R.T.), securely erase all data and much more.

While HD Tune is more of a drag race than a clear indication of real-life performance, it is an excellent storage performance reference among SSDs with the same controller. Unfortunately, HD Tune does not generate any fancy independent graph outputs in particular, so I just took a screenshot of the program.

The Kingston NV3 2TB provided an average sequential read speed of 2405.4MB/s, which was a bit slow. For comparison's sake, the Netac NV7000-Q 1TB had an average of 2156.4MB/s, while the Crucial P3 Plus 1TB produced an average of 2888.0MB/s. Otherwise, the throughput graph was quite bumpy with a triangular waveform. It still had a flat trend line as the triangle oscillated below and above a middle point. The access time of 0.02ms was a bit more than what was measured in AIDA64. At the end of the day, HD Tune may not be the best test for solid state drives all the time, but the results are interesting to look at.
