The Kingston XS1000 2TB is a drive aimed at file backup on-the-go. Its large storage capacity along with its small size should make it easy to ensure files are stored well as you work on large projects wherever you are. Furthermore, the Kingston XS1000 2TB performed well in all its benchmarks. It did quite well for a USB 3.2 Gen 2 class SSD, and will meet the needs of backing up files on-the-go. This solid state drive has a metal enclosure, which should protect the drive from bumps and bruises throughout its travels. However, the plastic ring around the case may easily break with a drop. It would also help for the drive to have some sort of ingress protection rating to boost its durability, especially considering how important portability is to this product. Also, it would have been beneficial to have seen some sort of protection for the files on the drive like encryption. This ensures any files on the drive would not be compromised if it is physically misplaced. Finally, I would have liked to see a second USB Type-C to Type-C cable for easy connectivity with more devices. The Kingston XS1000 2TB is priced at $110 USD, which is about the same price as other products of its caliber like the Crucial X9 Pro 2TB. However, you do miss out on some features, like an IP rating or encryption. Overall, the Kingston XS1000 2TB is a solid SSD, providing good performance for its class in a compact form factor.
