About AIDA64 Engineer

AIDA64 Engineer has a hardware detection engine unrivaled in its class. It provides detailed information about installed software and offers diagnostic functions and support for overclocking. As it is monitoring sensors in real time, it can gather accurate voltage, temperature and fan speed readings, while its diagnostic functions help detect and prevent hardware issues. It also offers a couple of benchmarks for measuring the performance of individual hardware components or the whole system. It is compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit Windows editions, including Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.

As with all our portable disk reviews, I would just like to make it clear from the start that we are, by no means, expecting the compared USB flash drives on the list to deliver performance competitive with the Lexar Professional SL100 Pro 500GB external solid state drive. However, our AIDA64 results do provide interesting insight to the performance of the Lexar Professional SL100 Pro 500GB as a USB 3.1 Gen 2 storage device. Delivering up to 900.9MB/s sequential read, 888.9MB/s random read, and 857.9MB/s buffered read, it came in only second to the Crucial X8 1TB -- a close one at that; with both being NVMe-based devices. The third on the list, the LaCie Rugged SSD 1TB, also an external NVMe-based SSD, was an extremely close third. The LaCie Mobile SSD 500GB was only roughly half as fast as it is a SATA-based device. Its 0.19 ms random access time is what you would expect from a USB solid state drive as well. So far, for 500GB of USB 3.1 Gen 2 storage, this is some serious speed.
