Lexar SL660 BLAZE 1TB Review (Page 7 of 7)

Page 7 - Conclusion

While cloud-based storage options are increasing in popularity, the Lexar SL660 BLAZE 1TB still has a place for those that require the speed and security of physical external storage. From the top, we can see this is a well-built SSD with a sturdy and sleek aluminum body. There is a bit of flare added with its RGB LED lighting too. I appreciate the different accessories from Lexar, such as the plastic stand and carrying case, which either keeps it in one place or protects it while in transit. The two included USB Type-C cables are also great to see, even if they are a bit stiff. Once plugged in, the drive comes to life in both its lighting and performance. During our benchmarks, the Lexar SL660 BLAZE 1TB provided impressive numbers. This included both strong read and write performance. We may have not seen the quoted numbers in our testing, but it still outperformed the competition in most of the results. On the other hand, the SL660 BLAZE could still be improved in random reads and writes, as its performance here was slightly behind other external storage options. Physically, I also would have liked to see some improvements, such as making the lighting user configurable and more functional, such as the option to serve as an activity indicator. At the time of the review, the Lexar SL660 BLAZE 1TB is available for $130, which is priced quite competitively for an external drive of this caliber. As such, if you are looking for a fast USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 drive with read and write speeds to boast, then the Lexar SL660 BLAZE 1TB is an excellent option.
