Page 4 - Benchmark: ATTO Disk Benchmark
About ATTO Disk Benchmark
The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Following up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO is an often quoted benchmark, because it is easy to use and accurate. For the most part, it is a favorite among reviewers, and I have grown to embrace it as much as the next for the last little while. By varying the file transfer size, you can visually see how each product performs across the curve. In the Read section, the Seagate NAS HDD ST8000VN0002 8TB performed quite well, but it was not as good as the WD Black 6TB and WD Red Pro 6TB. Its ramp up speed profile was very similar to the Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD V.5 8TB, NAS HDD 4TB, and Desktop SSHD 4TB, which, in a traditional Seagate fashion, was very good. However, Western Digital's models took it up to a whole new level. The NAS HDD ST8000VN0002 reached close to peak rate at 4K and above, which was quite quick. Its peak rate came in at 242.928MB/s, which was second only to the WD Red Pro 6TB at 261.251MB/s, and beating its 8TB enterprise counterpart at 240.749MB/s; all crazy fast by 2016 standards. In the Write section, it also reached its peak rate at 4K and above. With a top write speed of 234.441MB/s, this, again, was incredible, but still slightly edged out by the Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD V.5's 239.12MB/s statistic. Meanwhile, the WD Red Pro 6TB peaked at 265.777MB/s, and like the Black 6TB, both had a faster ramp up speed than the Seagate ST8000VN0002 8TB.
