About ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool is compatible with Microsoft Windows. Measure your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customize your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously. Use ATTO Disk Benchmark to test any manufacturers RAID controllers, storage controllers, host adapters, hard drives and SSD drives and notice that ATTO products will consistently provide the highest level of performance to your storage.

Up next is our usual ATTO read and write tests. ATTO has been one of our longest lasting benchmarks over the time. Ever since we have started using it in our network attached storage reviews many years ago, it has been integral to our battery of storage performance evaluations here at APH Networks mainly due to its accuracy and thorough testing in accordance to varying transfer sizes. From the graphs above, the Western Digital Black P50 Game Drive SSD 1TB's read performance and write performance were both extremely fast; peaking at 1032.444MB/s for read and 999.1398MB/s for write. Once again, we were limited by the interface we could test with. However, this ranked in third place against all our tested drives, falling behind the LaCie Rugged SSD 1TB and the Crucial X8 1TB. In terms of ramp up, the Western Digital was actually quite fast to reach its peak speed in write performance, matching the Rugged SSD at practically all of the packet sizes of 64KB and under. However, in the read tests, the drive was slower to reach its peak than the other two aforementioned drives, lining up closely with the Lexar SL100 Pro at smaller packet sizes.

UPDATE June 27, 2022: The drive was retested over the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface.

The results once again are much improved, peaking at 2024.695MB/s for read and 1988.41MB/s for write. Under the curve, the results were similar to previous testing, however, we did see speeds start ramping up a bit more in smaller packet sizes.
