About HD Tune Pro 5.70

HD Tune Pro is a hard disk / SSD utility with many functions. It can be used to measure the drive's performance, scan for errors, check the health status (S.M.A.R.T.), securely erase all data and much more.

Unfortunately, HD Tune does not generate any fancy independent graph outputs in particular, so I just took a screenshot of the program. The Western Digital Black P50 Game Drive SSD 1TB remained flat on average. It differed slightly in magnitude than HD Tach -- probably due to testing algorithms used -- but its performance characteristics were identical in practice. Other than that, the results were top tier across the range; the recorded access time was very low as we would expect from an external solid state drive. Our Western Digital Black P50 Game Drive SSD 1TB gave us an average number of 316.9MB/s. Compared to our three other NVMe-based external storage options, this is faster than the SL100 Pro 500GB at 241.3MB/s, but slower than the Crucial X8 1TB at 327.5MB/s and LaCie Rugged SSD 1TB at 367.3MB/s. The tested latency was a bit different compared to AIDA64 and HD Tach at 0.081ms. Do keep in mind the discussion we had on the previous page, as it still applies here.

UPDATE June 27, 2022: The drive was retested over the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface.

Once again, the results are much faster with this updated interface, with an average read speed of 588.7MB/s. Even so, you can see the shape of the graph was practically the same between the two tests, with only the magnitudes being different.
