As with all of the portable hard drive reviews, I would like to make sure you understand that we do not expect the ADATA DashDrive Durable HD650 500GB to deliver performance similar to the many flash based memory devices on the list. Obviously, most USB 3.0 flash drives will perform better, as they have no mechanical or moving parts inside. However, our AIDA64 results do provide interesting insight to the performance of the ADATA DashDrive Durable HD650 500GB as a USB 3.0 external hard drive. With numbers maxing out at 113MB/s sequential read, 91.6MB/s random read, and 184.4 MB/s buffered read, these numbers are actually all better than the past ADATA external hard drive, the DashDrive HV620, albeit only marginally. Comparatively speaking, the Silicon Power Armor A30 provides similar results, with a maximum difference of 5.0MB/s faster. As for latency time, the HD650 is a decent 17.19ms, considering it is still a mechanical hard drive. The Silicon Power Armor A30 is faster by almost one millisecond, but most users will probably not notice a difference.
