Again, we can see effects from Intel X38's improved memory controller performance on the Asus P5E3-Deluxe. Even in the latency category, we can see that P5E3-Deluxe put out 54.3ns on paper, while the P5K-Deluxe and P5K3-Deluxe has a score of 61.6ns and 60.7ns, respectively.

About HDTach

HD Tach will test the sequential read, random access and interface burst speeds of your attached storage device (hard drive, flash drive, removable drive, etc). All drive technologies such as SCSI, IDE/ATA, 1394, USB, SATA and RAID are supported. Test results from HD Tach can be used to confirm manufacturer specs, analyze your system for proper performance, and compare your performance with others. HD Tach is very easy to use, quick, and presents data in easy to read graphs, including the ability to compare two storage devices on screen at the same time for easy analysis.

Because our P5E3-Deluxe uses Intel's ICH9R southbridge as with the P5K-Deluxe and P5K3-Deluxe, our results unsurprisingly pulled the same statistical numbers and graphs as well. We will use the charts (As it is identical) from our previous P5K-Deluxe and P5K3-Deluxe reviews.

A Long Bench has been run to analyze the SATA2 performance on the Asus P5E3-Deluxe/P5K-Deluxe/P5K3-Deluxe. The drive used in our test is a Seagate 7200.10 320GB SATA2 hard drive with 16MB cache built on perpendicular recording technology.

Since the results for ICH7R and ICH8R in HDTach is identical according to our previous tests, we will compare the SATA performance of the ICH9R based Asus P5E3-Deluxe/P5K-Deluxe/P5K3-Deluxe against the ICH7R based Asus P5W64-WS Professional -- which resulted in identical performance with the P965/ICH8R based abit AB9-Pro. The blue line shows the Asus P5E3-Deluxe/P5K-Deluxe/P5K3-Deluxe (ICH9R) while performance is reflected by the red line for ICH7R/ICH8R performance. Performance is almost identical -- except ICH9R has slightly better burst speed at 254.4 MB/s, while ICH7R/ICH8R both produced a maximum burst of roughly 247 MB/s. When compared to NVIDIA chipsets, the NF430MCP and NF570MCP both had a maximum burst speed of 230.9 MB/s with our test drive.

However, the Asus P5E3-Deluxe/P5K-Deluxe/P5K3-Deluxe's ICH9R has an overall average read speed of 64.6 MB/s -- 0.1 MB/s higher than the ICH7R/ICH8R controlled Seagate 7200.10 320GB. This is identical to the performance of NF570MCP at 64.6 MB/s.

A Full Bench has been run to analyze USB performance. The drive used is a flash drive that we have with the fastest read speed -- and that's the OCZ Rally2.

The blue line represents the ICH9R based Asus P5E3-Deluxe/P5K-Deluxe/P5K3-Deluxe, while the red line represents the Asus P5W64-WS Professional. USB performance with the OCZ Rally2 is identical with ICH7R/ICH8R/ICH9R (Due to limits of the drive itself).
