Compared hardware
- Asus P5K-Deluxe, using OCZ Reaper HPC PC2-8500 2x1GB DDR2 RAM
- Asus P5K3-Deluxe, using OCZ Platinum PC3-12800 Enhanced Bandwidth Edition 2x1GB @ DDR3-1333MHz 7-6-6-24 DDR3 RAM

Besides different heatpipe implementation and memory accommodation, the Asus P5K-Deluxe and Asus P5K3-Deluxe are essentially identical boards. After swapping out the Asus P5K-Deluxe that previously resided in our system and installing the Asus P5K3-Deluxe, Windows didn't even detect a hardware change -- no need to reformat, no need to reactivate, just swap and go!
