Ballistix Elite DDR4-4000 2x8GB Review (Page 10 of 10)

Page 10 - Overclocking and Conclusion

When it comes to memory, the recipe seems to be pretty straightforward, at least when it comes to the specifications sheet. Combining high frequencies and relatively low latency timings should lead to a good result. Furthermore, if you back it up with quality ICs and a lifetime warranty, this should be a winning combination altogether. Micron has done as such with their Ballistix Elite DDR4-4000 2x8GB. Some users may lament over the lack of RGB LEDs, but these are clearly not necessary for speed. With the tried-and-true black aluminum heatspreaders, the Ballistix Elite DDR4-4000 2x8GB kit was quite up to the task in performance. Furthermore, the quality ICs provide us with a bit of overclocking headroom. While it is already specified at a blazing DDR4-4000 out of the box, I was able to turn this kit up a bit more to a final DDR4-4333, representing an additional 8.3% increase on the already fast XMP settings. These were also Prime95 stable, with the timings only barely loosened, as shown in our screenshot above. Ballistix's M.O.D. utility also provides real time temperature monitoring, which is good to see. With a dependable brand, a solid set of Micron's chips, and sleek heatspreaders, it is clear the Ballistix Elite DDR4-4000 is another quality product. At a retail price of $208 USD for their 2x8GB kit, this is one memory set that has the speed to boot. Micron does also offer their 4x8GB kit if you want more memory. We called the last Ballistix Elite memory kit the one to beat in 2019, and Micron seemingly has only surpassed themselves with this kit. Once again, Micron proves they know memory, and the Ballistix Elite DDR4-4000 2x8GB kit is some of the fastest memory available.
