Gigabyte Radeon HD 7870 2GB OC Review (Page 4 of 13)

Page 4 - Benchmark: 3DMark 11

3DMark 11 is available in three presets; separated into their respective categories of Entry, Performance, and Extreme. Entry is run at a resolution of 1024x600, Performance at 1280x720, and Extreme at 1920x1080. Released on December 7, 2010, Futuremark's latest program is more than capable of driving current generation graphics cards to its knees. And it did. It takes advantage of new DirectX 11 features such as tessellation, compute shaders, and multi-threading. Throughout the tests, the Radeon HD 7870 demonstrated a strong performance lead over the previous generation card. Meanwhile, although Gigabyte's 100MHz overclock did not do a whole lot to the store, the difference is definitely there. Compared to the GTX 570, it did not post huge gains, but once again, we did notice a good margin between the rivals.
