SanDisk Extreme II 240GB Review (Page 10 of 10)

Page 10 - Conclusion

In the beginning of this review, I have asserted in the elementary school world, if you want to establish credibility in what you are trying to make, you would add terms like 'super', 'ultra', 'epic', 'hyper', 'plus', and 'extreme' to its name. Now that I am no longer in Grade 5, and you are probably not either, where does the SanDisk Extreme II gain its credibility in the grown up world? Just like the SanDisk Ultra Plus 256GB, the answer is simple: The product itself. Performance numbers do not lie. The name will only get you so far. But the SanDisk Extreme II 240GB is not your average Big Green Monster Super Ultra Plus Epic Hyper Extreme Edition 9000. This Marvell 88SS9187 based SSD delivers excellent performance in a compact package, while using modest amount of power. Sure, it may not be the fastest SSD in the market today (Although it is definitely among the best), but neither is it the most expensive. Actually, ignoring peak numbers for just a short moment, the SanDisk Extreme II 240GB actually delivers some of the best performance under the curve in tests like ATTO, which is very impressive. I just wish it pulled a little higher IOPS in demanding applications. At the end of the day, if you are looking for something that is not SandForce based, or are weary of the reliability of other vendors using alternative controllers, this SSD is, by all means, a clear winner by its own merits. For about $230 at press time, you are definitely getting your money's worth of performance with the SanDisk Extreme II 240GB.

APH:Renewal Award
Since April 30, 2007, Number Ratings have been dropped for all CPUs, motherboards, RAM, SSD/HDDs, and graphics cards. This is to ensure the most appropriate ratings are reflected without the inherent limits of using numbers. Everything else will continue using the Number Rating System.

The SanDisk Extreme II 240GB is a thin and light high performance SSD that uses modest amounts of power at a reasonable price.
