One of the most challenging parts in our battery of SSD benchmarks is the PCMark 8 Storage Consistency Test. Nowadays, many drives are well optimized for high benchmark scores when they are empty, but what separates the professional players from the amateurs is how it stands up to a truly punishing workload. PCMark 8's Storage Consistency Test is designed exactly for this purpose. Going through five phases -- precondition, degradation, steady state, recovery, and clean up -- to extend beyond real world application simulations, this benchmark takes just over two days to complete, but the results are revealing of an SSD's true capabilities. Overall, the Toshiba OCZ TL100 240GB's numbers were subpar to say the least. PCMark 8's Storage Consistency Test provides a clear distinction between product classes, but even when comparing the TL100 240GB with the Trion 100, Trion 150, and UV400, the end story was generally lower. In the degradation phases, the TL100 was across the board slower than all three of the mentioned drives in practically all the tests. The same pattern continued into the steady and recovery phases. These tests were ran three times as you can see above, with relatively similar patterns to rule out the one off chance the test went awry. Needless to say, I am quite dissatisfied by the Toshiba OCZ TL100 240GB's performance in this benchmark.
