Page 7 - Benchmark: Colin McRae: DiRT 2
Colin McRae: DiRT 2 is a very popular game for benchmarking -- you will be hard pressed to find a review site that does not use this game in their video cards reviews. So we are no different. Despite being released over a year ago on December 1, 2009, DiRT 2 is one of the first games to make use of DirectX 11 using Codemaster's EGO engine. DiRT 2 also has an excellent in-game benchmarking function that actually reflects real life performance quite well, so we decided to give it a shot to obtain our standardized results. Once again, at 1920x1200 and everything maxed out, the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560 1GB OC's AA/AF performance scaling characteristics resembles Call of Duty: Black Ops than that of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. We started out with the GTX 560 slotting in between the factory overclocked 6870 and the reference 6870 card. As the AA and AF increased, the GTX 560 started to drop below the regular 6870; the difference only increased as we moved from 4xMSAA to 8xMSAA.
